TitleGLOBAL GOVERNANCE STUDIES (GLOBALIZATION AND REGIONAL TRANSFORMATION) [ Syllabus ]

As the second decade of the 21st century comes to a close, the future of global governance, the liberal international order, and the regional security architecture that has sustained the Asia Pacific since the end of the Second World War, are all in flux. While the world has undergone multiple waves of globalization, accelerating significantly since the 1990s and the end of the Cold War, it has been accompanied by the emergence of new challenges, power shifts, and nationalist backlashes around the globe. The question is no longer one of “if” global governance will change, but how it will change. This course will consider how this change is likely to impact the governments of the Asia Pacific region from multiple perspectives in Japan, South Korea and China.
